KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 (Bernama) — More flood victims were evacuated in Terengganu Friday night, bringing the total number of evacuees in the east coast states to 23,307 from 21,013 Friday afternoon.
In TERENGGANU, 18,531 victims from 4,343 families were sheltered at relief centres compared to 14,880 Friday afternoon.
According to the state government’s flood portal, 62 flood relief centres were opened in five districts while that of Setiu and Besut had been closed for the flood situation had returned to normal.
Flood relief centres in Kemaman registered the highest number of victims at 12,160, followed by Dungun (5,309) and Kuala Terengganu (1,002).
Two other flood relief centres in Hulu Terengganu (36 people) and Marang (24 people) are expected to be closed as hey accommodated only several families.
Only Km8 Jalan Tepoh-Kuala Jengai near Bandar Al-Muktafi Billah Shah is still closed to traffic.
In KELANTAN, 4,594 flood victims took refuge at 11 relief centres compared to 5,951 this afternoon.
According to the state government’s official portal, Tumpat recorded the highest number of flood victims at 2,427, followed by Pasir Mas (2,136) and Kota Baharu (31).
At press time, Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang was still above the danger level at 9.81 metres (danger level 9 metres), but the water was receding while other the water level at other rivers had returned to normal.
In PAHANG, the number of flood victims remained at 182, according to the National Security Council’s flood portal.
